Brows are all the rage now, but so many are puzzled by how to achieve the perfect brow. Clients ask me all the time about how they can perfect their brows. Let me start by saying all brows are not created equally, so you have to first accept the brows you have no matter how sparse, thick, light or dark they are. Then you can begin with the tips I am about to give you below.
TIP #1: Let Them Grow
Many of us are addicted to constant arching, waxing, and threading. However, we must pay careful attention to the growth cycle and time span of our brows. There may be some times where we need to skip our bi-weekly or monthly maintenance to allow our brows enough time to reproduce hair for growth out of the follicle where we have taken it away so that our brows can thicken where needed.
TIP #2: Stimulate Them
Yes, I know what you are thinking and I know this might sound crazy, but it is true. Brow hairs need stimulation to regenerate just as the hair on our head. Jamaican Black Castor Oil is my go to oil to massage into my brows to get increased blood flow which stimulates growth. JBCO provides moisture, hair retention, and thickening. Who doesn’t want those properties? I apply and massage JBCO on and into my brows every night beginning about a week or two after my last professional grooming session to prepare them for the next grooming session after two more weeks have passed. My favorite brands are Tropic Isle or Sunny Isle. The key is to ONLY use the original or extra dark formula on your facial hair as the ones with essential oils may cause irritation.
TIP #3: Develop a Grooming Regimen
So now that you have your eyebrows all prepped and at their healthiest state, it’s time to develop a grooming regimen. Now, this will all depend on your eyebrow hairs rate of growth. Some people can go as little as two weeks or as long as six weeks. Everyone is different. You will need to ensure that you go to a licensed esthetician for your waxing services, a licensed brow threader or an experienced archer for these services. I’ve found that having a brow groomer is a personal relationship. This person will know your face and will more than likely get your brows perfect every time, so stick to one person, but it is okay to have at least one back-up. By developing a grooming regimen, it will allow you to train your brows to do exactly what you want them to.
TIP #4: Do At Home Maintenance
I know you are probably thinking, I get my brows done by a professional, so why do I need maintenance. Well, brow maintenance is not time intensive. It should take you 30 seconds or less. You need to brush your brows in place every day. It also doesn’t hurt to add a little clear gel to them to brush unruly or curly brows into place to keep them looking perfect. One of my favorite clear brow gels is the MAC Brow Set. However, you can also use a clear mascara and get the same effect.
TIP #5: Invest in Good Brow Products
Brows are sisters, not twins, but with makeup, they can come as close to identical twins as possible. I prefer to fill and shape my brows when wearing a full face of makeup because brows frame the face. Some prefer to fill their brows even if they do not wear makeup, which is perfectly fine. In order to achieve the perfect brow fill, you need a quality brow product that fits the bill. There are tons on the market, but you have to find what works for you. You can use a pencil, brow gel and or brow powder to achieve optimum results. Some of my favorites include: MAC brow pencil and Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. To top off an awesome fill and shape session, I like to set it and forget it, literally. My all-time favorite brow set product is the M.U.M. Brow Seal by celebrity artist Nachera “Cherry” Brown. Those brows won’t budge and I will put money on that.
Lovies, with these steps, you are sure to have brows that “WOW”!!! Now, go ahead and start implementing these steps, you will definitely thank me later!
