Being rich or better yet wealthy is one thing I always fantasized about as a child, but let’s face it. It’s just not going to happen for everyone. Why? Well, because most people don’t have the wherewithal to make it happen. Let me explain, everyone possesses the potential to get wealth, but most do not want to do what it takes in order to achieve that state of wealth.
It is said that the average millionaire has 7 streams of income. Anywhere from businesses to real estate. Now, these are not the only ways to produce lucrative income, but they are examples. I am a firm believer that one cannot truly achieve wealth by only working for someone the rest of his/her life. I would also like to submit to you that there is a distinct difference between being wealthy and being rich. According to Millionaire Acts, “the main difference between being rich and being wealthy is knowledge. Wealthy people know how to make money, while rich people only have money. Rich people are motivated by money, but wealthy people are motivated by their dreams, purpose, and passion.” Basically, being wealthy means that the status of an individual’s existing financial resources supporting his/her way of life for a sustainable period beyond him or her physically working to accrue recurring income. So now that you know this, do you want to be rich or do you want to be wealthy?
Now the key to being wealthy is being fueled by our dreams and passions. Why do you think that is? Well, I’ll tell you. When you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life. Sure, it requires blood, sweat, and tears, but anything worth having requires sacrifice. Trust me, there is a huge difference between experiencing the pressures of being a part of a workforce where you collect a check to do what other people tell you and you have no passion for it, then it is to sacrifice, endure some stress, and progress to reach your dream. Now because I am a woman of faith, God plays a key role in me pursuing my dreams that will result in wealth. One key scripture that I have dissected is Deuteronomy 30:9, “The Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground. For the Lord will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your father,” Let’s focus on the very first blessing here, where it states that God will make us abundantly prosperous in all the work of our hands. This means we have a responsibility to get the vision and pursue our passion in order for it to be blessed. Wealth is just not going to come on its own, we have to work towards it.
I am a woman of many gifts and talents. I have always been told and I do truly believe that God gifts us with these innate capabilities in order for us to maximize their potential and produce wealth. Think about it, how many more lives can we touch when we gain the power, platform, and influence that wealth brings? Way more than we can living from paycheck to paycheck. Don’t get me wrong, everything is a process. We are touching lives all along the way of this journey when we are pursuing our purpose, but wealth just allows our influence to be more widespread.
Now, it’s time for you discover how to pursue this wealth, should this be a desire of yours. Here are 6 key steps to getting on track to a life of wealth and prosperity.
Read about wealth building.
In order to gain wealth that we don’t have, we need to understand how wealthy people think and move. This is vital to our success. We must study in order to obtain the knowledge we need. Subscribe to magazines like Money Magazine or Forbes. Two of the books I will be reading in 2018 is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. When we expand our minds, we expand our possibilities ~ Marliceia Chavers.
Discover your purpose.
What is purpose? Purpose is your reason for existing. Purpose is that thing that you can’t stop thinking about doing. It’s that nagging thing that keeps you up or wakes you up at night. It’s the one thing that makes you feel fulfilled as a person. Discovering your purpose is vital to your success and often times is embedded in things that you are already passionate about. Sometimes this will all unfold in a unique and confusing pattern of development or it can come in the logical sequence of events, who knows? I do know that God’s ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not like ours either, so if it is a God-directed purpose pursuit, it could cause you to question it. Just continue, no matter where the journey takes you. It will be fulfilled.
Think of Income Generators Connected to Your Purpose
How can your purpose produce income? For example, I discovered that I did makeup well years ago, so I invested in some professional training and started my own makeup artistry business. Now, this is an indirect connection to my purpose of empowering people, specifically women. When women look good, they feel good. Now, this is not the way I originally thought this would play out, but my obedience to God in that allowed so many other doors to open and help me to discover new passions to pursue. Find ways to rectify a problem you see. Find ways to answer and unanswered question with your purpose. Patent something, invent something, offer a service, invest or even cure something. Whatever it is, just do it. Your purpose is connected to your wealth.
Have a plan
I believe in just doing it, but I also believe in having a plan. Now, I don’t necessarily mean a formal business plan but have an idea of where you are and where you want to go with your passions. Write the vision and make it plain. Set some goals, do some research, and establish timeframes. These are simple steps you can take until you are able to either write your own business plan or have someone write it for you.
Everyone needs help and guess what? Everyone is not going to want to help you and that’s okay. Pray for God to send people your way who are willing to sow into you. Also realize that some forms of help, you will have to pay for. If people gave away all of their knowledge for free, then everyone would be broke. When you become the expert, you should give the basics for free, but charge for depth, because this is your baby that you have birthed and not anyone else’s. Expertise has value and attributes to reputation. Never be afraid to ask for help because we all need help.
Do some things for free to make connections
When you are first starting a business pursuit you will need to do some things for free, but not everything for free. Evaluate what type of opportunities and connections this free gift of your product or service will establish. There should still be a mutual benefit. Know that everyone has to pay their dues in an industry to establish a good reputation and some of that is determined by the sacrifice we make by not receiving payment in the direct form of money. Connections will take you further than a one-time fee. People with connections, prominence, and power are the most valuable capital you can have. Don’t despise small beginnings. When we are faithful in little, we will be given much more.
The phrase there is money in the many is something I coined to push myself to pursue my purpose and all the diversity that comes with it. Now, I am a makeup artist, but I am working to become a lash and brow specialist in order to increase my value and reputation as more than just a mere makeup artist. I also am utilizing my love for writing through lifestyle blogging with hopes of monetizing it. I also have a few projects that will be kept under wraps until their launch, so stay tuned for those things. I said all of this to say, I am doing my best to walk what I talk by implementing wealth building in my life.
There are a few other things to keep in mind as it relates to wealth building such as living below your means, saving, debt elimination, etc., but I will speak more on those topics in the New Year.
Until next time…remember health is wealth.
